Looks like some of our favorite little stripeeee baits may be going the way of the pogies in RI ......Get ready for some good, clean, catch and release pie plates!!!

ASMFC Releases Draft Amendment 14 to the Scup FMP for Public Comment


The Commission's Summer Flounder, Scup, and Black Sea Bass Management Board approved sending forward Draft Amendment 14 to the Summer Flounder, Scup, and Black Sea Bass Fishery Management Plan (FMP) for public comment and review. Draft Amendment 14 addresses the development of a rebuilding schedule for scup consistent with requirements of the Sustainable Fisheries Act. These may include fishing mortality rate thresholds.


States from Rhode Island through New Jersey have scheduled the dates and times of their public meetings to gather comment on the Draft Amendment. The details of those meetings follow:

Fishermen and other interested groups are encouraged to provide input on the Draft Amendment either by attending public hearings or providing written comments. I going to start fishing strictly for Sea Robins and Cunners, since that is all we are going to be able to keep. WTF...

I'll tell you I caught a TON of seabass last year. We called them aquarium fish.
Every one was between 5 and 8 inches long.
I started reading the .pdf file until mind was numb and eyes drooping. I see where commercial numbers are gathered but still don't understand where the rec numbers are gathered. Are they extrapolating from a few checks to an estimated number of fisherman?

I can never understand how they get those numbers

The Sea Bass Fishery was good last year.... BTW ...Anyone going to the Springfield Sportsmans Show... I am jonesing for some fishing. even if it is just fish shopping
