I had a full weekend of trips planned.. The first one was on Friday. It was a 2 man trip. 1 had been out with me before. The wind was looking on the iffy side but we meet at the dock at 5 am anyways. It wasn’t bad making the long run east. We set up our drift line and started fishing. The first few drift showed that there were blues around. Each drift we made it seemed the sea got bigger. The NE wind was kicking up hard. When our drift speed was getting over 3.5 mph I decided to drop anchor and start to chunk. We were getting thrown around pretty good. I talk to the guys and we decided to call the trip after a couple of hours of fishing. It was a long and bumpy ride back to the dock in 4-5 footers After the beating we took on Friday. The weather forcast was looking the same for Saturday. I called the guys and told them what the weather looked like. They all lived about an hour away from the marina and decided to book a different day. Well NOAA was wrong again. The morning turned out pretty nice with workable seas. Still better safe than sorry. Sunday Trip went a lot better. We ran out in a stiff NE wind and 2 footer. As the morning went on the wind and seas calmed right down. It was alittle on the slow side for fish but we came out alright. By the end of the trip we boated a very good amount of blues and 1 keeper striper.

I think we still have a couple of weeks judging by water temps. I think the problem the past couple of days was wind and water conditions. Bait is the biggest issue. porgies are starting to sit in the areas in good numbers finally. I think we will see bass do the same.

| Nice Pat, it seems like it was tough to produce action around Branford/New Haven this Sunday. Glad you were able to hook those guys up. You are right about the bait, every bunker head is priceless right now. | ||
