| RI Bass/Seabass/Tautog/Fluke REPORT w/PICS!!! L@@K My father and I on "Inheritance" left 6:30am, snagged a dozen and a half Pogies in Wickford Harbor, and headed down the bay. Stopped by Narrow River and started drifting chunks by a favorite piece of structure. After hooking several voracious blues, I have what I think is another blue f-ing with my chunk. Starts taking it slowly, and I keep feeling it whacking it like a blue...I'm saying WTF.....so I let it take it a few times slow, then I set the hook. Immediately I feel it banging away and I said to my father "another blue"......then it's peeling drag like freakin' crazy! I couldn't stop it without fear of popping the leader (30# flouro)! I let it go but it kept banging away.....then it goes toward the surface but not all the way up, and is still way out, and starts going towards the bow.... I hold the rod with one hand and work my way up to the bow, around the anchor pulpit, now it's staying off the other side of the bow and I keep fighting.....then I see it come up and I said get the damn gaff, I'm coming back! That beautiful large slumbering back! I walk around the other side with rod in one hand hoping it doesn't run.... Bring it boatside, sink the gaff, and landed this big 45" bluefish!   That's my buddy Chris and his dad on the SeaFox in the background...... So, the bite turned right off after this one and a few passes. Headed out to one of my deepwater 'Toggin spots and anchored up on my spot, taking into account how we would swing as the wind switched later on (which worked great, we never had to re-hook). Started pulling Togs right away, along with a little 14" Seabass, and my father even got a nice 18" fluke that no doubt was going for his crab, but he snagged him near the gills 8) So, by now we had 4 species in the cooler  Stayed there several hours thru the tide change....bite came and went with the tide, we stuck it out....I know how this spot is....hit and miss and if you stick it out and wait for them to eat each time you'll score nicely 8) We pulled about 4 dozen Togs, with some pesky ass-hooked choggies mixed in...... All but 3 or 4 Togs would have been legal in CT :P with their measly 14" limit, but most were just under the RI 16" limit. We did manage some nice ones, we got our limit (3 per person currently). 2 were just at or over 16", the rest were well over, 18-20" or so.    Came back in by Newport and saw the 12 Meter Regatta, took a few pics of some cool boats, including a wooden 12 Meter, a sharp looking red one, and we saw the U.S. Navy Lightship Nantucket moored in Newport! This ship was bought from a historical preservation society by a private couple! The society ran out of money and the couple bought it, restored it, and now live or travel on it! Very cool! | Oh, and BTW, we had ~68 degrees surface temp but were fishing in about 60 feet of water 8) |

| Another couple weeks it'll break wide open.....I feel it.... The spot I fished yesterday was much better than when we hit it on your boat 2 weeks ago.....a couple degrees cooler..... 2 more weeks of cool temps like we're getting, and we'll really be in the thick of it 8) |

| It should only get better from here. We tried the same day and empty handed. Alot of small ones no keepers. Great Report and nice pics Hope you saved me some
