I was gonna suguest the samer thing as Capt Curt. Mack fishing is a blast for the adults and kids .

With ones so young i would definately cut the Sibiki rigs down to about 3 hook just for safty. Plus it will make it easier to get the rig on board..

Might give that A try. Do the Mack hit the Sabiki's? or just the standard Xmas tree rigs?

Thanks, Edge

They love the sabiki rigs. Hoop and i load up on macks in the spring when they come in to the east end of the ditch. We live line them for bass and use them for shark bait and grind them for chum.

One sugestion is buy the sibikis with the heavy main line. When you get into them thay can be so thick that you will get 3, 4, 5, even 6, all on one rig and the macks can run pretty big in the spring.

I use a Prisim jig for weight.

These are great. I have a 7 & 8 year old and started them on these a few years back. Last year they upgraded to very light tackle but "real" closed reel setups. There was in article in one of the Saltwater mags recently talking about how much these little rods will haul in and it was quite impressive.

Here is pic of my 6 year (at the time) last summer with his first Big Bass. You can see his upgraded combo in the background on the right.

The kids will love one of the zebco's and if they come in a cartoon character they like, all the better. Great for snapper blues later in the summer too. They'll have plenty of time to break your better rods down the road

I'll also agree with Curt on Mackeral fishing.
They start showing up mid - late may, typically memorial day weekend on till they leave mid or if we are lucky 3rd week of june.
Gear, sabiki # 10 work but are a pain in the but with all the small hooks, and the fact that the rigs are very long and they are made of very mall test mono.
We use Zing a ma jig color mac rigs and either a small diamond jig or a small weight to get it down.
If you find them and once one jumps on, continue with a SLOW retrieve as more with jump in the rig.
