Definitely yuppies......

1) The clothing
2) The cushions all along the gunnel on the bow
3) The style of boat registration lettering says a lot!
4) Brand new Whaler (no offense to Whaler owners but there's a perception by the ignorant that Whaler is the "only" boat to buy hahahahaha)
5) The one holding the fish trying not to get a drop of slime or blood on her fancy clothing

I try to stay away from controversial; posts like this, but Pat is right on.

First off, I was out with the Moon Man and Stresser on Friday, a great day by the way; Mooner has 2 fish on and I am on a good fish, and we are close enough...by choice.... to throw a ball back and forth, the guy and the girl in the Whaler come bombing along and run right in between Chuck and I as we are all tight on fish. He did not say anyhting to either of us, but we both could have spit in his boat, that is to close; especially when we are all fighting fish, then he drops the hammer floors it out for about 50 yards and starts to fish, tossing us about as he hammers the throttle.......one word comes to mind and it is one I grew up with fishing in Mass......GOOGANS...nothing worst....Know how to play the game with etiquette or play golf!!!

As for the heart of the matter, poaching is a no go. I grew up fishing for stripers in the late 70's and early 80's, and if you got 1 or 2 fish a summer you were a rock star. The fishery was down and out, and now it has recovered to a terrfic spot. Poaching is the fastest way to wipe out the stripers again. If we all want the fishery to stay solid like it is, then we must make a stand against poaching....does anyone want to go back to where weused to be....1 fish per summer that you had to work for...no chance I want that again!!!

Lastly, I always try to give veryone the benefit of the doubt, if he did not know the rules; not great but it happens. Once he was called out he had 2 choices...Plead Ignorance or Plead Guilty; clearly he was guilty. When he is told that he has illegal fish, and he says "I like the small ones, they taste better...it is not ignorance...it is guilty; especailly when he is told he has illegal fish. You do the crime you do the time...Great job Pat Reel Crazy!!!

We need to make a stand when this happens. We have a great fishery, and a great network of guys on this site. I hope we can all have many great years of striper fishing, it really is the best thing going !!!!!

Poaching

Just call the DEP tip line and let them know this guy is poaching. They will keep an eye on them. Comments on the boat - looks like an Edgewater to me. What is kind of weird is that I have found people from Europe are not sensitive to fishing regulations (seriously).

Now for a funny poaching story - several years ago I was anchored up at SW Ledge (Clinton) tog fishing, with a big fleet. A nice private boat (36 feet or so) comes over from Orient and anchors up next to me. They had a small crew of "non-english speaking" people on board - not a racist comment, just the facts. They were using some kind of bottom fishing rig I have not seen before - 5 hook rigs and they were crancking in small scup and small seabass (under the legal size and over the bag limit). The tog fishing was slow and I pulled the hook to go bass fishing. On my way to inner SW (bass spot) I bump into the COs. I pull up to them and tell them about the little poaching episode going on. They take off for the poacher boat. I then head out to Six Mile reef to do some jigging on the way back to home I decide to take a little peak at SW to see what is going on. The DEP boat was still tied up to the "poacher" - this was a good hour latter. I have no idea the outcome in terms of a fine but it made my day (and I never saw that boat on the reef again). Jack
