Any good spots for tog either in the bay, or RI/BI sound? Are they hitting yet?

You'll get 'em both in the bay and outside right now.

While I am in Southeastern CT, I found togs in 8 feet of water this morning. Of course they ran small, but in about an hour I landed a dozen or so fish in order to end up with four keepers. The biggest was five pounds but for them to be in this close there has to be a lot of them about. Very hard to stay anchored for togs as blues and bass were breaking all over the place. I would say that the inshore fishing is pretty dam good right about now. Even if one did not have a boat, they are close enough to be caught from shore. Very few boats were about this morning, with only one other boat fishing in my area. There was a sole boat fishing White Rock but he was too distant for me to be able to determine how he was making out. Somewhat surprised at the lack of boat traffic on such a beautiful Fall morning and with the fishing so good. I was planning to hit one of my favorite tog locations at the Dumplings but had forgotten my NY regulations cheat sheet, and could not remember what the Tog story is in NY. Oh well, nothing lost as I limited out much closer to home.

I must be missing something with Tog. I have NO LUCK even getting a hit. Tried plum lighthouse and beavertail, nada...

Got some nice black sea bass for my efforts. Am I in the wrong spots? Been thinking about Whale Rock, but don't want to go that far south unless there is a pretty sure thing.

On a positive note, there was a ton of topwater action yesterday in the lower bay. Striper are there too, but closer to the shore. They went nuts for my pencil popper!
