Tragic Day in RI Surf

(South Kingstown, RI) -- A fisherman who fell into the water off Matunuck Point has died. The man, identified by WJAR NBC10 as Paul Martin of Long Meadow, Massachusetts, was fishing alone at Deep Hole yesterday when he fell off a wall and into the water around 6:30 p.m. A fellow fisherman who saw him go in called 911. Local police, fire and the Coast Guard responded and after searching for about an hour, found Martin about 30 yards off shore. He was rushed to South County Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Thoughts & Prayers for all his family. Such a tragic thing.......waders filled and swept him away.

Gotta be careful on them rocks, especially this time of year when the water is cooling down fast......sad story.

Then there's the 85 YO man that fell in by the ferry landing in Galilee (former ferry worker, spent a lot of time walking around down there), and they found his car and walker nearby yesterday morning........they found a body at 1:10 PM yesterday but hadn't identified it yet (probably him).

What a shame. Our thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family.

Wader belt is essential!!! Saw many guys doing the Salmon River sleigh ride up in NY years back. The belt is the only thing that kept them alive.
