Pat: I troll lead core. 2mph, 1 hour before and after slack tide in strong rip areas. If the current is cranking go 2 mph faster than the tide down current. Accross current is good but usually there are to many lobster pots in the area to do this. 1 to 1 & 1\2 color every 5 feet in depth. Try it, it works. I make my own tubes for less than $2 a piece and thats using a $1 gama 7\0 hook.

I also use at least 30 feet of 40lb mono leader that gets the tube another 30 feet back when fishing shallow and you can put some wraps of mono on the rod when a big bass is close to the boat.

Bruce,

Are you fishing them in low light conditions? Or does it not matter?

Stress has not yet mastered the art of catching bass when there is no bait. He is a Master Baiter but not yet a Master Basser.

Stress: I'm fishing slack tide. That fish as well as this one was caught Sat 10:30AM High sun. Last year we caught a bass over 50 inches at 12:00 noon on a bright sunny day on a tube and worm on top of a 12 deep hump in 20 feet of water.

This is Linda's first bass. 10:30 bright sun 22 feet deep. Slacktide is the key.
