those big ones dont get that big by taking every jig put infront of them. i have to agree with it being dragged up or netted. we use to get some monsters out in the mudhole during the summer gillnetting for monkfish i dont know about 24 lbs but up there in the high teens low 20's.

Just my 2 cents...knowing the rules, that a fish cant be mutilated and knowing that if you bleed your fish it wil loose weight, why in the world would anyone cut the gill area and risk the record. No way that fish was caught line and reel. We would have kept that fish in perfect condition

That fish would've been pristine, iced down in the locker. That type of scale loss and fin rag does has never been seen from a coolered fish.

..and on this note, it should be disqualified. Who leaves a world record fish on your porch? Sounds like a classic case of record fraud. Again, the disregard for the fishes condition and obvious avoidance of inspection tell the tale.

Amazing what some people will do to get their name in print somewhere that hardly anybody looks. Where is their pride?

just as well, seems a few sites feel threatned by nbs....and they should be...i will put it into perspective for you...the fish was beat to crap..everyone sees it...the woman who caught it [dragged up] looks like...ummm michelin mans bride.. ...... the fellow who took the pic...eats corn on the cob the long way...he does...so all in a nut shell. my guess is ..its a fake claim. all good points on the phony.. if i caught it it would be iced down asap. put in my bonar cooler. locked down in my shop.. i then would be waiting for carl newell. aka newell reels/spro jigs/power pro/ and neil faulkner rods to be coming down for a photo shoot... jim
