boat sinking with pix and video

The 57' Paul Mann, "DreamCatcher" out of Cape May,NJ has sunk. They were fishing the White Marlin Open and apparently hit something early this morning on the run out. She went down very quickly and everyone got off safe. They are split-up between the two boats that rescued them and are fishing.

Just goes to show lightning can strike at ANY time :-)

Man!!! What a terrible loss. Must have been a beautiful boat.

I wonder if they hit a submerged object that was just below the surface of the water.

Thank goodness the anglers were saved.

Hi,

Is there an update on this story?

This past week an older wooden cabin cruiser in the Throgs Neck area hit a submerged piling, log whatever and sunk very quickly. All were rescued and the boat towed to a marine, lifted out and pics taken. I could not believe how the shaft was bent like a pretzel, the strut shoved up into the hull and the prop[ stuck in the planking. Sab, very sad.

I had been asked to bring the vessel from the south shore to the north shore on Long Island. Am glad that I said no due to not having experience coming up the East River area.

Always a sad sight.
