Champlains Block Island??

Has anyone ever stayed at Champlains on Block? Any thoughts on the place? We have some family coming out and wanted to stay three nights out on the island. The rooms should work out and I'd bring the boat so the dock should work out, it'll make things a lot eaiser to get to the boat early in the AM for inshore tuna trips.

I've read some bad stories though about the place, they don't take credit cards which is just wierd. Cash or check for deposit.

Years back in my 20's from what I can remember it was a room to lay your head......nothing special......however it was quite foggy that weekend

Champlain's is a nice place. Family friendly lots of night life, and some nice looking land sharks walking around

Thanks guys.

Land sharks are always a welcome site. They can add to those foggy nights too.

I stayed there several years ago with several of my siblings and their families. Thought it was very good. Nice location, decent dock facilities, OK restaurant for breakfast or lunch, bike rentals on site, clean but spartan rooms. Nothing to complain about. We've been going to MV the last few years but I would stay there again if we decide to do Block again.

Block island, Champlins is a fun place. If your fishing beware, they raft
you in like sardines many boats have to be moved to get out unless you get a slip on the end by the gas docks and those are for the big sports. Be prepared
because the dock boys don't start moving boats untill 9:00 AM. WE usually
flip em a twenty or two to get a better spot so we can get out early to fish.
Its not really a fishing marina more of a party place, Also THE BLOCK doesn't
sell bait and ice can only be bought by the 5lb bag at $5.00 a bag, so bait
and ice up before you get there. The boat basin is set up more for the
fishing crowd. You will have a good time, we always do its an experience.

I agree with the boat basin, if you're fishing.

Stayed there before with no problems getting out crack of dawn.

I'd hate to stay where you're rafted up to 80,000 weekenders.

I'd take a freakin' mooring first LOL.

I'm hoping it won't be too crazy with rafting as we'll be staying there sun-wednesday mid aug. I'm told to talk to the dockmaster and let him know if we're heading out early. Maybe since we're staying at the hotel they'll be more understanding...doubt it.

The idea is to make it more convienent, it'll kinda suck if we're locked in.

I'd take a mooring if we had a dingy as we can't use the launch service off hours.

I've had the boat at boat basin and that was great. Easy in /out. The owner also owns wickford ship yard where our office is.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll have to remember to pack bait, ice, wife beater, gold chains, + cash for greasing.
