EliteXC on Showtime

Anyone else watching this MMA on Showtime??

That Antonio "BigFoot" Silva from Brazil is one impressive fighter. Dude is 6'4" 298 and quick as a cat. Size 15 foot!! He knocked out Cabbage in the first round with a knee to the chin.....

I watched it on Thursday night. Some decent fights. I thought the womens MMA match was impressive.

Hey guys, I don't want to seem like DUHHH, but have you guys ever thought about what would happen if any of the M1 fighters took on some of the Pride or UFC guys? They have some Good fighters in M1, but you never see them use a ground game. I guess that's the big difference.

Another thought is I would really enjoy watching the boxer Mike Tyson get in a MMA fight just to see him get beat up.

....OOps forgive me Lord, that wasn't nice.

I don't think the M1 guys would flourish, due to the ground and pound being heavily utilized these days. There are a few pure strikers in the UFC and Pride, but they all have great take down defense, and can usually survive on the ground if nothing else when forced there(the good ones anyway) until they can stand it back up. These days with more and more fans coming in, they are having the referees stand them up more and sooner to keep the action going. The best thing about that ElieXC was the 15 second rule....and the chick fight The reason I like UFC better than Pride is the cage factor as well. You see a much better fight in my mind with the cage as opposed to the ropes.

I think the new breed of super well rounded, athletic styles are going to continue to change the pace and outcomes of these MMA fights.
