we have been seeing these wierd bones on our beach ( saltwater ) for the last month or so. we could find everything but the skull. we just finally found the skull. if anyone has any idea, please let me know, it looks like a friggin' dragon. Last edited by REDNECK; 11-28-2008 at 02:14 PM. | ||

| If you can take some more pictures and post them... Views: Top Front Rear Bottom Also include tape measure in photo. There is a marine lab at our marina and maybe I can pick there brains. They are always looking for something unusual.

| A seal's skull looks very similar to a dog or a bear. That does look like a dragon, but I am doubting that (LOL). A sturgeon has a head very similar to that shape, and the spinal column looks to be of a large fish. Bob has the right suggestion. | ||

| Looks like a striper skull to me. A dogfish being a relative of the Sharks and rays has a cartilage skeleton not bone. I found this pic of a dogfish skeleton. Don't know what type. | ||

I second the vote for a bass skelton (and it makes sense)... the rack drifted and got picked clean. Fish skulls are pretty interesting. I emptied the green crab trap last weekend and have some very strange looking skulls - skup - they look like bird heads. When I get a chance I will post them. The entire collection of bones spells fish and not mammal. Jack | ||
