Jim, Our February introductions to Mike's Maritime Memorabiliainclude vintage photographs of party fishing boats that sailed from various locations in New York from 1930 to 1960. These Big Apple Boats were familiar and popular with scores of local anglers of the era. They long gone now, but your Dad or Granddad will recollect them with a big smile. You can see them on our Just Added page. We wish to thank Captain Tony 'Mo' Barbato, Captain John Bogan Jr. and Tom Whitford for generously contributing some of the fine photographs and background information for this month's additions. Included in the February lineup is this 1930 advertising postcard. The "NEW YORKER" party fishing boat was owned and operated by Captain Bill Clulo and sailed from Sheepshead Bay's Pier 5 at Brooklyn, NY. At the time, she sailed at 2 PM and catered to anglers that worked an early morning shift (and other late risers that wished to go fishing in the afternoon.) The "NEW YORKER" was built in 1912 at Brooklyn, NY and was one of the earliest party boats to sail from Sheepshead Bay. Postcard courtesy of Captain Tony 'Mo' Barbato. We are now displaying more than 850 vintage photos of party fishing boats, fishing memorabilia, marinas, lightships, lighthouses and other interesting stuff from the New Jersey/New York saltwater fishing scene on our Mike's Maritime Memorabilia pages. We encourage you to browse these wonderful pictures and enjoy over one hundred years of our fishing heritage. Regards, --Mel Deak www.Mels-Place.com - A comprehensive directory of saltwater fishing sites on the Internet... fishing gear & tackle, manufacturers, dealers, private & governmental organizations, fishing boats, weather & tides, educational resources, fishing news and vintage party boat pictures. It's quite a collection, so come on in... the water's fine!

Jim, This is awesome, looking at some of the earlier boats, no wonder we now have regulations on passenger capacity. As you get closer to the modern era, I noticed, like the "TEAL" how much it resembles those glass boats of the modern era around 85' today. Thanks for putting this one up for all to enjoy. Dave
