Thanks all......

Means a lot to be able to "vent" here during this time.......

Helps a little to ease the neverending lump in my throat and empty feeling in my stomach.

As, I think Dom said in his post.....

"just plain sucks".......

Tough to put down any pet, as we have several in the past, but this one just hurts the most for some reason. Only 6 1/2 years old, and thru so much, just to succumb to something like this......just not fair to him. This was one of those dogs that you could just look at each other in the eyes and just understand each other.

Really at a loss whether to get another or not......with a baby coming in August, it's a tough call. I said jokingly yesterday before I even thought it would come to this, that if anything happened to him, we needed a break. Probably said it in light of what we've all been thru lately.

But I think the silence during the days is going to have a bad effect on my wife. We've had 1 or 2 dogs at all times for the past 10 years, which was even before we got married.

Been thinking (already looking admittedlt just out of curiosity) of finding another Siberian locally thru the several Husky Rescue Leagues around here. Our first one came from one. This way, we could avoid the "puppy stage", which would be tough come August!

I dunno.......torn.

My friend, although I do not know you yet, I am very sorry to hear.

My wife and I have 3 dogs ourselves and I feel your pain.

Sorry to here about Kobie Eric. When I lost my first dog Fido it was hard.
It took me about a year to get another dog. Thinking back now I should of done it sooner. I went to the dog pound and got a dog about 6 months old. The dog was picked up on the street limping, I named her (Pepper). The first 6 months of Peppers life must of been bad. To this day you can see it in her eyes. Other then Maureen and I she hates everybody. It took us a long time to gain her trust. It was three years before we could walk up to her with a brush in are hand to brush her off. The puppy stage is important, dont miss it!

we've always been a two-dog household.
currently the queen bee alpha is a 15 y.o. golden with failing hind quarters & all the elder-dog health issues. soon my family & i will be facing the same decision......when she becomes fully incapacitated or suffering in pain. no rush to find another dog, when the time is right you will know.
best wishes!
