NBS USCG License TWIC Deadline

For all that hold a USCG License, The Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) Deadline is April 15, 2009
If you have a USCG License it is mandatory to have a TWIC card.
If you do not have a TWIC Card by April 15, 2009 you USCG License will be invalid.
You can reach the Department of Homeland Security at the link below for all the details.

NBS TWIC and other costs

Go figure! The orignial dealine here in OCMD area was Sept. so, I jump through all the new hoops go through the online registration, the in person application and interveiw and give them $132.50 and two weeks later they tell me I can make an appointment to pick up my card, cool! The day before I pick up my card the I get a notice in the mail about the extension! Oh well, had to get it done so done it is. Between state fees, lisenses and permits, federal permits(HMS, dolphin/wahoo) and now this, it is getting pretty expensive to be a fully credentialed charter capt/owner operator even for a small cc inshore/nearshore rig like mine. That's the cost of fishing these days!
Not to mention the fuel$$!

There is some legislation that will probably exempt charter captains by April.

I'll wait it out a little longer. I don't charter untill the summer months anyway.
