1998 Mercury Outboard Help

OK ive posted many tales of this Freakin Engine so here it goes again, Nice day today so i decided to work on this engine pulled the 4 Brass screws(last one on the Bottom was a NITEMARE to get off)and pump the Fuel bulb, this was a Tip from the site, but fuel only squirted out of the Top screw hole on the Carb the other 3 Nada, nothing, i used a Air hose and blew out the debri /gunk (if any) from the other side and i did notice some gunk in the 3rd hole that did blow out ,then each hole when air was being blown into it had air coming out where the Brass screws are screwed into, im uploading a Pick because once i started iit up i noticed that the Small hole in the 2nd space opening of the Carb was the only one that fuel appeared to be coming out the top i saw none as well as 3 and 4, and it kept stalling i used Carb cleaned while it ran and sprayed it in each opening but the Top hole was the Only one that the engine would cont to run before stalling, ill add the Pic later

Sounds like the carbs need to be removed and cleaned, possibly be rebuilt.
This is because of Ethanol mixing with the previous fuel formula. Many boats had problems with fuel gelling and the Ethanol "washing the tanks causing stuff to clog up the carbs.

Sorry to say but spraying carb cleaner ain't gonna cut it. It may loosen a few things up but the best bet is to rebuild them.

Don't know on price, I would go with a Merc dealer or certified mechanic if you are going to pay someone. I live near Pier 76 in Westbrook and they service Merc but I cannot vouch for their work as I never had them do anything. Also my neighbor is a certified Merc mechanic and works at Ocean Performance in Old Saybrook but never had them do any work either. Sorry and Good luck.

PS I would try to schedule this like yesterday, spring rush is coming.

Probably a smart move , The time spent fishing this season instead of working on the boat will make up for the cost.

A few guys at my marina bought boats from suburban. They were very happy with the work they did and their Service.

That is not too bad considering all the work that was done.
