Heres the story. 99 Volvo 5.7 GSI in a Four Winns. Last year I put my boat away I believe it was running fine at least no problems I know of. I winterized it as I aways do except this year I did not change the motor oil before I covered it. So I just pull the cover and put in the batteries and go to start it up. It clicks hard but won't crank so I switch to both batteries and still clicks hard but no crank. I figure the batteries are weak So I hook up a set of jumpers and try using the truck. It will now crank slow and I mean slow. I wait about 1/2 hour and try again it cranks slow then catches runs rough then smooths out and seems fine I run it about 5 minutes (not watching the gages) and go to change the fluids. As I pump out the oil it is like a brown milk shake. I know this is bad so I pump it out and stop. There is not much more oil than normal. So here I am . What do you think I should do? | ||

| Heres what I have now. Drained mud and put in new oil. Ran boat for about 5 to 10 minutes oil pressure was normal. Motor idled and sounded normal. No rust on the dip stick and rockers look good. (looking through oil cap) Did a compession teat as follows 1 175 2 185 3 180 4 185 5 175 6 180 7 180 8 180 What do you think I am looking at? | ||

| *(I'm not a professional Mechanic). The white milk is definately a sign of whater in the oil. Hopefully you had a lot of condensation that created the water inside the oil pan. Now that you have changed the oil when you first take it for a run check again to see if you have more water in the oil. If not then your all set. If you get the milky color oil again then you might have a bad head gasket or crack in the block. Hopefully you won't get any again. Just keep an eye on it. Try it for a while and see what it looks like. Good luck Armand | ||

| Ragtop, the Volvo is a GM, same as Mercruiser, standard 350, with a different "package" on it You're definitely getting water in your oil (obviously), and at a very fast rate, if you got foaming right away when running it. Doesn't seem to be your risers, as you'd likely have an F-ed up valve (or several) and less compression on the affected cylinder(s). Is this boat raw or closed cooling? (Not trying to take Bill's place, but I have many years "backyard" experience, trying to help you out.....I'm sure Bill is flat out with boats right now )

| 74Formula233 I'll take any input I can get. Its raw water cooled the manifolds are original. I winterizedit as always: ran to temp, drained block, ran 5 gallons of anti freeze through, fogged. I'm at a loss here. I did speak to Bill by phone Hes comming to see it on Sunday till then I can't even look at without getting sick

| OK, cool, you're in touch with Bill.....I haven't used Bill before (mostly due to geographics LOL) but have heard nothing but GOOD about his work. That said, I'll let him take over. However, I can tell you......unless that boat has been used only in fresh water, those manifolds need changing. Risers more often than manifolds too. About half the life. 7-8 years on manifolds in a raw water boat is definitely pushing it, and can lead to serious $$$$ in damage. I wouldn't be surprised if you have water leaking directly into the engine internally in the manifolds thru a rotted water jacket. Personally I recommend FACTORY replacements with manifolds/risers. They really aren't THAT much more, and many a long-time mechanic has warned me away from the "gafftermarket stuff".

| Yah, I new I was pushing it. I planned to do the manifolds this year once it was in the slip. I didn't get that far. The boat only has about 180 hours never hot so I thought I could strech it. My bad
