He's got diesels in that rig, "he's a mechanic"

Pays off to do your own maintenance and know your engines when you have diesels. (Actually it helps with any engine). Paying others can get quite costly, plus it is nice to be able to get yourself home from offshore when a simple (or not so simple) fix can be performed at sea.

Bryan, what is that boat anyway? Yours also, I assume?

The boat in my avatar is actually my Dads. Its a 1979 40' Ocean. We have had it since 89 and have worked on every system atleast once if not more. I also have an '86, 25 Whitewater, '74, 20 Seacraft, and many friends and relatives with boats that I end up working on. And because I am a Teacher I cannot afford to pay other people to fix my stuff.

This is the bad girl (Starboard 6-71ti) She is always miss behaving. This winter the project is to replace the exaust elbows. Similiar to a riser on a gas engine. It is causing overheating at high RPM's. We did it about 14 years ago so it's that time again.

Her twin sister on the port side is an angel.:angel13:But she seems to get ideas from the bad one she will be next inline for new exhausts.

Can you tell winter is getting to me!!!!!!!

Thanks Possum. I wonder what happened? It was working when I logged out. I also noticed the pic is not in my picture gallery anymore. No big deal.
Didn't mean to hijack. I'll shut up now.

No, good old American fiberglass. They were built before everyone started making stuff round and Euro.

I like the styling of older boats. There are only a handfull of new builders sticking with tradition. Mostly because it is easier to build a "roundy" boat because you can chopper gun it and pop them out of the mold at high speed.

Rampage is one example. I love the syling of their old boats. The new ones look like everything else. Don't you guys agree.

Since we're hijacking this thread, I love to show off my baby, but I think It's time to sell her and move down as my family has lost interest and it's just me - almost (key word, almost) too much for one guy to park in a slip....
