| Diesel inboards - any opinions I am looking at a 23' diesel inboard. My fishing style is basically three-waying eels over reefs, humps, ect. In my curant boat, an outboard, I run ahead of the reef shut off the engine, drift over the structure, start up run back up and do it again. Is an inboard diesel suitable for this style of fishing? Any thoughts would be helpful. PG |

| Others will be more helpful I'm sure, but I don't think you'd be shutting down the diesel for short drifts. I'd think you'd leave it running. What kind of boat is it?

| Bob Its a mid 1970's 23 CC mako. Not a speed demon. But a good stable platform to fish on. PG |

| I run a 28 foot c/c with a diesel inboard and use the same, or close to it, method of fishing in which you mentioned .. I shut my motor off all the time when I'm drifting for Striper no mater what the water depth may be .. After owning a stright inboard I'll never buy a boat with outboards again. What you may loose in speed you gain on the more comfortable ride and fuel economy, and you'll notice you will travel with a more of a constant speed, even when your running with swells .. By the way I trailer my 28 foot c/c daily .. Good luck Capt. Mike Neto |
