Electric Motor on my Maritime

Has anyone mounted a bow electric trolling motor on a Maritime Skiff?

I'd like to put one om my 14'. I want to be in "STEALTH" mode when fishing the back waters

Know nothing about them or how they mount......

Do you have the optional bow coaming or not?
I'd think you could mount directly to the coaming if you have it.
Not sure if you don't. Platform is a few inches below the top.
Might need some sort of bracket.

pictures??

No coaming on my boat. I know what you mean, I had it on my 18' & 20-P

I'll dig out a few pics.

I'm thinking you might have to build up the platform under the trolling motor mount to get it even with the top of the rolled edge(similar to the way the navigation lights are done. If so it shouldn't be to hard as you have access through the door to the storage/anchor locker.
I'm thinking it could be done in wood and and bolted in place.

Hey I like those recessed pop-up cleats.

I like the boat, great for back waters. I was thinking exactly as you explained bob & mag.

I wonder if a better choice would be a stern mount electric motor instead?

The pop up cleats are sweet but do rattle if you don't push them down when done with them. No biggie though!!

Bought the boat used a few years back from a guy that needed to "clean his slate". It's been good to us as a beach/fishing/clamming craft.

My Mari time's were always one of my favorite boats!!! Had this 14, an 18, and a 20-P.

Thanks for your time & input

Personally I like transom mount for ease but if you decide on a bow mount and had to fabricate a box to raise up the mount, I was thinking if space allowed you could make the box big enough to hold you battery/batteries also. Save on routing wires etc.
Good Luck and let's see what you come up with.

Just curious, where are you going to find room for a transom mounted electric? With just one engine it already looks a bit crowded. It looks like a too nice a boat to drill holes in the transom for an external mount and perhaps somewhat awkward if you build up something on the high part of the transom to mount the electric directly on it. One possible option might be to purchase an electric that mounts to your existing lower unit. Do not know how well it will work out as I have never done it.

You know......this thread has made me research Maritimes more......and I may just buy one for my next boat.

I'm all about functionality and economy these days! CARS and BOATS!

It's a toss-up between Carolina Skiffs and Maritime Skiffs I think........
