Engine Stall

I got a question I got my boat out of the first time this season on my way back from branford reef I heard the engine throttle going downing slightly I was going full throttle so I got down my speed then it just shut off by itself. I started her back up and took my time in since I was very close to the no wake zone. Could if possible be bad fuel I did treat it stabilizer over the winter and this was the same fuel I was using since this was a test run after us having my lower unit replace. I also have quetion regarding the gas/fluid separator I have a new one the Racor S3227 but there is a clear plastic piece at the bottom that i did see at boater world can that be reuse.

Its possible you have some water in the gas . That seperator should unscrew. Take it apart and dump it .Then try again. The one on my boat looks like an oil filter and I use it 2 or 3 times before replacing it .

Sorry in my original thread I meant to say I didn't see that clear plastic piece that unscrew from the bottom at the store .....so you are saying I can use it a couple of times before replace. Thanks

As long as you get it off without damaging it . I use it a couple times . Look in side for rust that could be a problem .

ok Last night at the very bottom I unscrew the tap at the bottom of the filter/water seperator and let all the contents out it mostly smell like gas to me...then I tighten it back up. I notice as soon as I start squeezing the gas bulb gas comes right back into that clear bottom piece that I just emptied so my question is how do I know if the content I just emptied contain water and gas or just gas it seem to me incoming gas going down into the clear plastic piece and up thru the metal filter that look like the oil filter then out to the outboard? anyways she started right up and I let it run for a while I will know more when I go out this weekend.

If you had left what you drained in a container tou would see the water on the bottom as its heavier than the gas.Good Luck

IF anyone can give me some advice I am still having Outboard problems. Yesterday again Whenever I put the engine in full throttle it has a delay reaction before the RPM needle goes up then after she start going full speed for about 5 minutes or so you hear the engine starts coming down slowly as the RPM needle slowly comes down then she just stalls. almost like its starving for something I don't know if its the gas that was in it from last year 1/4 tank thats was treated with fluid stabilizer at the time of winterizing.

Engine Problems

God knows I'm not a mechanic either but you need to give more details. Engine make/year/horsepower. If you can run the engine on a portable tank (I assume you can't) it would help clear up the fact if its fuel issues or engine problems. Based on my minor engine understanding, I don't think you have fuel issues. Jack
