If the extra $500 wasn't a consideration, Furuno. Not for "quality", because I think the JRC is much better quality than people give it credit for.

Mainly because I think the display of the Furuno is nicer.

I have had the furuno 1623 and the 1715, Very good machines, easy to use, great customer service and extremely dependable. I don't have any info on the other you mentioned. In my necck of the woods 90+ % run the furuno. Some garmins and rays. I currently have the garmin 3210 chartplotter and am looking at the new 18 radardome. The earlier ones had strange redraw which I didn't like and since I already have xm weather overlay I wanted to keep another screen, Anyway if you are looking for in close collsion advoidance the furuno 1623 0r 1715 are plenty. However these are stand alone. If space is an issue and you like the overlay you might look to garmin, furuno and ray more $$$$. if you are looking at upgrading your chartplotter

I have the 1623 and it has been flawless. It has preformed WAY better than I expected. I have no problems seeing even small stuff like crab pot buoys. Its easy to learn and use and has a few cool options like cursors, alarms etc.
I would get it again in a heartbeat.... My opinion

I've got the 1623 also and it works great and is very user friendly. I did have a dcu board go bad after 1 season. Furuno customer service was great and the unit was fixed and shipped back to me in less than 5 days - under warranty too.

I've got the small JRC and It works great. If your in a small boat the most you will ever be set on is 6 mile in the fog never more than 1 mile so distance is not an issue for small boats.
