| I run the Furuno 1623. The display is a little smaller than the 1715 but it works fine. Won't find birds, but good quality for navigation. Saved my butt a few times on those 2:00 AM returning BI trips. You can also tie it into your chartplotter. Furuno usually runs a rebate program around boat show time.......

I heard furuno and raymarine radar can only be bought in combo units(ff,chartplotter) as far as the new stuff goes but you can still buy a JRC new with dome for around 1K.

ANOTHER REASON I ASKED WHICH RADAR WAS THE EASIEST TO READ AND OPERATE. DON'T LIKE PUSHIN BUTTONS. I WANT TO TURN IT ON SET IT AND WHEN I LOOK IT SHOWS ME WHAT I WANT TO KNOW. | The Furuno 1623, works extremely well, and I have been very happy with it. Picks up everything, easy to read, easy to operate while underway. I have yet to see a downside to it. The lower end JRC unit, while less expensive, is harder to read (comparatively) and doesn't have the same pick up as the Furuno 1623. I bought mine from the GPS Store (The GPS Store, Inc. Garmin, Magellan, TomTom Systems and Accessories) for the same price they have it for now, $1,049. | ||
