Hour Meter

I've got approx 64 hours on our new motor and want to install and hour meter over the off-season. Question is setting the hour meter to that number to start with.
Should I connect to a 12vdc source and run it for that amount of time prior to installing in the boat? Also if I miss the disconnect time, will reversing polarity, run the meter backwards to get back to the correct setting?

Thanks,
Bob

Bill,
Thanks for the info. Guess I'll have to really keep an eye on it to shut if off on time.
Good meeting you today. Boat is now snug with it's new cover for the winter.

get a 12V AC/DC converter and hook it up to a light timer in the house. Then you could run it for exactly 64 hours and have it shut automagically.

Thanks. I've got a 12vdc power supply. Will just have to dig up a timer.
