Good luck! You going to run her over by water or land?

A full one to boot. For those emergency moments.
BTW its hard to weld the thin stuff without spilling a drop.

Well, splash down was today, but not without a few "snags". Towed REBOOT from CLinton to Mystic this morning, in short order. Got her to the marina, launched myself (quite "fun" with a 24' boat like this), fired her up....sweet. Pulled the trailer out and parked. Untied the lines, and began to back her up, looking at the motor. I backed up left, and then looked forward and went to crank the wheel around to motor to my slip...WHOAH NELLY, why won't the wheel turn the direction I need it to? Oh, maybe because the hydraulic lines were reversed Have you ever tried to pilot a boat when the steering is opposite? I wouldn't recommend it.

Well, I manage to motor out of the launch area, and begin to think about actually attempting to slip her like that. Fortunately, I chose to abandon that option and just put her against the outside dock (thank god no one is in there yet). Got on the phone and call the "mechanic" who did the job...stated my woes, and good ol' Bill came down to Mystic to purge the system (as I had switched the helm fittings when I got docked). Fun start.

Went and got the wife and kids, for a short jaunt, and by the time I got back Bill had come and gone. Got out for about an hour of cruising around (no rods with me yet, next week). VERY GOOD to be back on the water.

Wrapped up, brought the wife and kids back to the camper in RI, packed up, and headed back to pick up the trailer....where the hell did the harness adapter go since this morning? I must have left it on the bumper or something, 'cuz it is gone, so the trailer is still in Mystic for now. Will get the adapter (and a backup) this week and haul it back this coming weekend.

So, in the end, REBOOT is back on the water, and it made me quite happy today. The hydraulic steering kicks ass, and that Furuno 1623 paints a great picture, clear and clean. Now to hook up an NMEA cable from the GPS to make it the way I want.

Great Brad, you sounded like you needed a break from work!

Staying in RI on the weekends already?

Congratulations Brad

It sounds like you and Jim did a ton of work to the boat and I am sure it feels good to be in the water. What are you running for a GPS, if you have one, have a tech interphase both so that when you click on WP such as a buy it will show on the radar. Yesterday in thick fog, it worked out great knowing which target was buoy and which were vessels anchored around. I wish you the best of luck and now go put some fish in the boat.

Dave
