My friends and I are focusing on purchasing at least two Panga 22LX boats for off-shore fishing and sport fishing. We have looked at other boat brands as well. We're becoming to enjoy talking and discussing the Panga boats. I'm posting here to get some other opinions to help us purchase the right boat. All of the good info we're basing our decision on are from the Panga builders. Thank you for your kind and true comments.

| Panga's are nice boats, but you say for offshore. Offshore where? I wouldn't be real keen 60+ miles off the coast of New England in one of those, but that's me. http://www.panga.com/assets/pdf/Panga22_build_06.pdf I personally love those boats. | ||

They have a few of them down here (SW Fl) and they seem to be OK offshore if you are willing to slow down. The two big advantages seem to be the ability to get into the shallow stuff when they want to, although they are not a flats boat. Also they are supposed to be very economical. I haven't seen any of the local ones powered by anything other then an Evinrude so I don't know if this is a motor of choice or part of a package that you have to get. Theu seem to be narrower then most of the Bay Boats down here and they seem to run fine in the chop most of the time probably not as stable at rest. They pull away from me when it's flat but get in my wake when it's choppy which is about what I'd expect. As long as you aren't expecting a 35 FT SKA boat you should be fine if you pick your days and places. I ran a 25 Dusky with a single 225 from Miami to Andros more times then I should admit to and am still here to write this. The Pangas are interesting especially if you don't have to run 40 off to fish. Tight Lines.

| I have a 2005 Panga Marine Marquesas (22') with a Yamaha F115. I believe it is the same hull you're talking about, with a different layout. These are great offshore boats for their size. I spend a lot of time 20-50 miles off the TX coast, usually by myself. The efficiency is as advertised, 4-6nmpg. Do not order the boat without trim tabs, they make all the difference in the world! Good luck. | ||
