I stopped by a local canvas shop today to get a "ballpark" on a 3 sided enclosure for my t-top. I want to put vinyl (or clear stuff) on the front for wind/water protection and both sides of the console. He said $1200. I almost swallowed my tongue. The entire custom built t-top with canvas, polished aluminum custom bent, hand welded with navigation light, 2 spreader lights, wires pulled, and a new antenna was only a little more than that. I can't believe it could be that expensive. I might continue to look around but I might just have to tough it out and not have any enclosure. I wonder what the cost is to put a full enclosure around the top to cover back to the leaning post would be... He said add another $600 for that. So $1800 for a full enclosure and 3 sides for $1200. I am not looking for gull wings just a little phone booth. Any ideas. This obviously was just a ballpark and he hasn't seen the boat. The shop has a good reputation for the work they do so I'm sure it is top notch but I'm not sure I can swing that much. Thanks George | ||

| You might want to check with Jim. He has done on "Boney" I think what you're looking for and can lead you in the right direction.

| George did you go to "the guy on Rt. 2" or "the guy in Wickford"? LOL Anyway, Nautical Needles in Westbrook(?) did mine while my boat was at Jim's shop.......and it was $1,100 at the time, 3-sided enclosure (4 curtains tho), with the heaviest grade vinyl you can get without going with Eisenglass, and the heaviest grade canvas I have seen in a long while. REAL TOP NOTCH stuff! Worth checking into, it's not that far. By the way, that's who did Jim's above! There's a LOT of CRAP vinyl out there (read that CRAP work).......it's worth finding the good guys if you gotta shell out the dough. I see so many boats, even at the boat show, that have vinyl that is one step above saran wrap, with all the wrinkles to boot LOL. Pathetic. But I can say one thing, canvas/vinyl ain't cheap.

| I checked the guy on Rt 2. I don't even know if the other guy is still there. I tried to call him a few times since the Spring and the phone is disconnected. I tried again yesterday. I would love to have what Jim has but I don't think I can afford it. Something like this ![]() Nothing too fancy. I spoke to Jim before and he told me about Nautical Needles. I was just trying to stay closer to home. GP | ||

| I will second the opinion about poor quality/ low price and consider thinking long term and if you are going to keep your boat consider getting a thick (40 mil) optically clear and wrinkle resistant plastic. I have had mine for 5 yrs and it is as good as new. If you are near eastern Conn. check with Seaport Canvass for a price. We all have seen cloudy crap you can't see thru on boats and I think nothing is more frustrating than that. Think about it before you pull the trigger. Good luck, Seaport did a real quality job. | ||
