Towing Help with my 'Burban

This weekend I will be towing a boat 260 miles. Here are some of the specs that I put together:

Tandem Axle Aluminum trailer with surge breaks with a 23' boat on top.
Dry Hull Weight - 2350
Engine Weight - 600
Trailer Weight - 1200 (no idea...guessing here)
Fuel - 1000 (7lbs/gal?)
Gear - the boat has no gear on it
Total Weight = 5150 lbs

The two vehicle is a 2005 Chevy Suburban Z71 (1/2 ton) with 5.3L V8 and I believe the 3.43:1 rear. I think that truck can pull 7200lbs.

My questions:

Should this tow be a no brainer given the boat / tow-vehicle combination?

Am I missing anything in the weight calculations?

Thanks,
Joe.

That truck should pull it with no problem,Just do a visual check on everything .I'd grease those axle bearings make sure the tires are in good shape including spare ,make sure you have a wrench for lugs and check them .Try to loosen them the tighten back up.Its a real biotch when they snap on the side of the road. Good luck

bring 2 sets of spare trailer bearings 1 hub assembled 2 spare tires Tools to change the bearings grease gun a file to smooth a nicked spindle if it goes bad
Leaving your pride n joy on the roadside to go get this stuff will sux
I weighed my rig before towing to NC this past spring I figured 5200# from the spec of the boat mfg It was 6890# without fuel ready to go Any truck stop should have a scale
Watch your temp gauge and look for oil smoke the burban tranny will seep through the front seal if it gets hot

Not an issue.....

I towed my '74 Formula 233 loaded with fuel and gear, etc etc, probably 6500# with the aluminum trailer, etc, with my '96 Burb w/ 350 Vortec.

The long wheelbase is the key.

The eagle has landed

The new boat is safely tucked in to bed.

Anyone want a very good condition Scout Sportfish 185 with custom Arctek T-Top?

I own a 1997 17 scout sportfish with a 90 yamie and they are one tough little boat they ride like a bigger boat.
Your scout will sell fast!

Jim,

Just bought a Scout Sportfish 235. I know....I am now an official member of the Scout cult but I can't help it. I really liked the 185 ;)

I am put the 185 up in the classifieds and adding pictures.

Thanks for all of your comments on the tow, it was really smooth.

Joe.
