| Waterpump Job - Help Needed I recently got a new service manual and water pump kit for my motor (Johnson 140 4-stroke - Same as Suzuki DF140). I was reading through it to see how to do the job and it looks pretty straightforward. One question, it says to put silicon sealant on the lower unit mating surface and bolts when putting it back on. Anyone else do this? Any particular type to use? I am thinking RTV type sealer but not certain what I should use. Is this a job for 4200 or something like that? Is this done to keep water out? Any ideas on this silicone sealer? Last year I took the bolts out one by one to make sure they were not seized in there and put some marine grease on them and reinstalled. There was nothing on them when I removed them and I put grease on them. Did I screw up? The manual is the Official Johnson 4-stroke Service Manual and not a Seloc or other generic manual. Thanks GP |

| The manual should list the types of sealant used in which locations. And the Evinrude dealer should have them in stock. When you buy them keep them together because you will have enough to service the waterpumps for the life of the engine.
