Whaler Frontier in CT

This Whaler is on Craigslist and I am thinking of going to take a look at it.

By any chance, is anyone here familiar with it?

I can't make out the name on the side of it. I was hoping I could dig up some info on where it came from and what it had been used for.

Any clues? It's in N. Stonington....

Interesting looking boat.
I tried enlarging and enhancing the name in the photo but all I can make out is
the last two words being....
Equipment Company (which I could see in the original image).
Looks like 2nd and 3rd letters are W then R.
Will be interested in what you find out.

I've been looking for one for several years.
The 1st year 1981 had a windshield that was swept back and the look really appealed to me but they are real hard to find.

Been a contributer there for a long while. I've owned Whalers since 1987.

I looking for info on this specific boat, not the model but thanks. CW is a great site.

I have a published repair article there as well as thousands of posts regarding my Whalers.

This is my most recent rehab: (rare, very rare)

She's a bute. I love all boats and the internet and boat brand specific sites are great. I wish I had more time to read them all. We have had a '79 11, 76' 15 and '68 17 whaler in years past I am now on the lookout for a 13 for my daughters. Preferably old school with the blue interior, any condition but restorable.

The Whaler Frontier was the boat that inspired me to get a pilothouse. They're really cool boats. The Clinton Fire Dept. auctioned one off a few years ago.

B2Tackle: I'd really really like to pick your brain on Whaler restorations. I want to build a Nauset/Sakonnet and my sticking point is how to repair your typical crazed gelcoat on all these older boats.

Right now I have a newly rebuild Nauset Console and seat that is unfinished. I need the rest (hull, engine etc..)

It has been my experience that the trouble one must go through to repair them is not worth it...

Spraying Line-X or another bed liner material can result in a much better interior than original. It can be applied to look almost as nice as gelcoat or with a rough surface for traction. Actually, anywhere in between those two extremes as well.
