Not this year, but next for sure. Looking for a basic setup that will give the peace of mind and safety that radar provides. What are good options in the lower end of the scale? | ||

| I had a JRC 2000 on my Hydra-Sport walk around. I loved the unit. Of course it was a CRT display, but it did its job. Be certain not to skimp on the scanner (open array will give you a more concentrated beam than a dome...but costs more). If you're taking the boat offshore, I would go for the most power for your budget.

| To bad they discontinued the smaller units. But, I think JCR is retooling the recreational radar like the 1500 ($1100) witch was a bacic but very good radar per all the good reviews it has. Only thing I did not like was the dome kinda ugly but I guss you could paint it So maybe they' ll be back next year... | ||

| Hey Tony, Brad's got the same boat that I had (Formula 233). He'd look like a real googan with an open array on that boat :P LOL The JRC 1000 & 1500 are still available, and I would recommend them, Brad, based on guys I know that have used these. | Eric, can you imagine, a 48" open array twirling around atop my F-233....LOL. Googan might be an understatement. Open arrays are significantly better, however, on the platform I have and the arch that will be built for it, a radome will be the ticket. The JRC 1500 is the one I have my eye on.... | ||

| For the JRC, the lowest I would consider is the 1500 MKII, however, Furuno does have my interest. Again, between the 2 (Furuno/JRC entry levels) which would you choose, and why? | ||
