At the rate things are going here, I might just give it all to ya

I should stick to making picnic tables. I at least finish them....

Got the rest of it up without any ladder or roof brackets.
Extended the ladder to the top of the roof and laid it on the roof at the same angle then propped the bottom of the ladder with the front tire of the truck. I climbed another ladder and then used the one against the roof for grip. Took a lot of trips up and down but the front is complete. Think I messed up my neck for a few days too.... Can't feel my left hand too well and my head is killing me.

Shingles for the back side are up there waiting. It's just a 4 pitch so no worries there. The 45° slope of the front was no fun! Glad it's done. I think we'll wait a bit before tackling that other side.

Be sure to be careful Jay. I know what you mean about losing feeling I was numb in my right hand for a couple days.

It's looking good buddy.

Loosing feeling and/or numbness in the hands is nothing to fool around with. If you do not seek medical attention you could wind up like old Gimpy

From what I see the numbness started long ago .Its obvious that it was in the brain section first. From all past medical reports the doctors probably recomended not to do any such physical work as roofing a shed. Now with that all out of the way maybe you should go cast a plug off the beach and crank stripers in that would definately help the brain .Probably wont fix any numbness but what the hell.Go

sorry that was too tempting. from one that had back surgery only 3 months ago.

Mine is from having a broken vertebre in my neck and the scar tissue causes stenosis (narrowing of the canal) it impeeds the nerve but praise God, I'm still able to walk and move around.

I have a ruptured disc at C4/5 and 3 herniations above that. Already had surgery for a rupture a C3/4. I've got a bone fragment loose around C4 too.

I shouldn't do the stuff I do, that much I know. BUT... the alternative is doing nothing, getting atrofied and getting much worse. Been down that route already.... Didn't want to live anymore...... If not for my wife pushing me out of bed and off the office chair, I would have already swallowed the business end of a shotgun.

Lower back is tha same as my neck. 2 disc surgeries back in 1990. I have a left sided rupture with a free floating fragment at L5/S1 (AGAIN) and 2 hernaitions above that. Osteophite growths (scar tissue) has my neck and lower back fused in a considerable area.

I'm doing great considering all that.... Doc's won't operate until I have lost function. Too much risk with too little to gain at this point. Seven possible areas to fix and they can't do them all..... When one gets bad enough, then and only then will they go back in.

I feel very fortunate despite all of it. Three years ago, they suspected I had MS. So far so good..... negative on all tests so far.

I try to do something each and every day. It's a fine line to walk. Do enough to keep me sane but not enough to hurt myself.

Depression sucks!!!!!!!!!!!

Word of advise.... Give it time.

People would tell me I would learn to live with the pain.
I thought

That kind of pain is debilitating....
Over the years (I think) the nerve endings have become deadened or the brain dismisses them. I still get all cork screwed up but I feel achey not acute pain in those usual places. I guess, my body/brain has learned to "live with it".

The neck issues are not as old and cause more problems. Just 7 years since I first messed it up and only 5 since the surgery. You learn your limitations and have to stay within them. Do too much and suffer.

The acute pain I get now is in the mid back area. Thorasic issues I assume. I'm afraid to have it checked out...

My biggest issue now is a lack of sleep. I hurt laying in a bed. I toss and turn non-stop and get no more than 3 hours sleep in one shot. After that 3 hours, it is on and off for a couple more. I must take naps daily. Even with that, I have no patience and I'm a real grouch. Can't get along with anyone most of the time. Wife and kids can tell when it is bad and give me space.
It's no fun and if I dropped dead I wouldn't care.... Quality of life sucks....

Yes, I'm in counselling
