Cut the chit man...never mind this "If I die" crap! You have a nice family that I'm sure want you around. Yes, as much as you don't want to...GO SEE A FRIGGIN' DOC. I have no idea what kind, but go see one. Might want to go out of state..like Lehey Clinic in Burlington...or someplace that specializes in your obvious spinal problems. With all of the meds and surgical techniques around today there HAS to be something that can be done. Stop screwin' with construction projects and get YOURSELF taken care of. I'd offer to give you a hand, but as you know two crips AIN'T any better than one! TAKE CARE...OF YOURSELF!

I know what kind of Doctor he needs it OBGYN. . I've had years worth of Spinal Epidural injections along with TENS Unit use and old faithful Narcotic pain killers. It has it's ups and downs. Some days hardly walking and there were times when the chronic day after day pain when I wanted to drive my car off the Jamestown bridge. But Through prayer and management I get by and my quality of life is worth living. Kids are wonderful, wife is there and the fish are biting

I've been through all the neurosurgeons in Providence and Boston...
Been there done that wwith all the spinal blocks, electrical stimulation, PT you name it.
I feel fortunate to still be able to do what I do but being in discomfort 24/7 just plain sucks. Ain't no two ways about it.
My dad died when I was 10 and Lord knows I would not wish that on my family. My point is that quality of life is nothing to be bragging about and that if something were to happen, SO BE IT!!!!

In all reality, I wish my wife and family had a better, more capable Dad and husband... At 43 it's tough some days looking in the mirror.

I'm in councelling and we talk about this crap all the time. Good thing is that I realize what it is and accept things as they are. Smiling through it all while depressed about it inside is a recipe for disaster. It is what it is...

BTW... the shed roof is done!

Don't ask......

I shouldn't do the stuff I do, that much I know. BUT... the alternative is doing nothing, getting atrofied and getting much worse. Been down that route already.... Didn't want to live anymore...... If not for my wife pushing me out of bed and off the office chair, I would have already swallowed the business end of a shotgun.

Lower back is tha same as my neck. 2 disc surgeries back in 1990. I have a left sided rupture with a free floating fragment at L5/S1 (AGAIN) and 2 hernaitions above that. Osteophite growths (scar tissue) has my neck and lower back fused in a considerable area.

I'm doing great considering all that.... Doc's won't operate until I have lost function. Too much risk with too little to gain at this point. Seven possible areas to fix and they can't do them all..... When one gets bad enough, then and only then will they go back in.

I feel very fortunate despite all of it. Three years ago, they suspected I had MS. So far so good..... negative on all tests so far.

I try to do something each and every day. It's a fine line to walk. Do enough to keep me sane but not enough to hurt myself.

Depression sucks!!!!!!!!!!!
I had to have emergency surgery to remove C5 and C6. C7 had bone spurs that were scrapped off. I now have a neat titanium plate that spans those vertebra. The swelling of the discs crushed agains the spinal cord and screwed up my arms and legs............hence "Gimpy" I am one lucky unit. I was able to come back.
The numbness in the hands should have been the give away!!!!

BY my count, that makes 4 of us here that have had similar surgeries.
Wonder what the common denominator is?????

I was predisposed to it but didn't know until too late. My boating habits is what did me in. Too many days on rough, bone jarring, teeth smashing water. Took one wave too many..... Damn Whalers!!!

Bill, how old were you when it started?

First round of surgeries kept me out of work 3 years. Went back to work for 9 years and only missed 3 days in all that time. Then did my neck in and called it quits. Between the back and neck I found it too tough to continue. Baby one and hurt the other has been my experience.
