If you are in the RI area it's $1.50 per true 2" X 2" stick of AWC and $1.00 per foot for the AYC. A saw mill owner friend dropped the wood off for the guys with whom I build plugs. These are his prices, my "commission" is an occasional plug from the builder!
If you still have the 2x2 AWC when I get back up there I'll definitely take it off your hands and would probably pay your friend a visit for more. I have plugs in mind that a 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" just won't do. Might even go for some AYC also but I'm poor so the cheaper stuff will be the bigger purchase.

TJ...sorry wood sold this AM at 8:50. If you want some AWC let me know I'll call the mill and have him cut some.

i love red cedar, you can get better action out of swimmers than yellow, but the problem i had was bleed through after a while, especially on white.

Red Cedar is very light, which equates to lively action in swimmers and pencils and reg poppers. Not great for deep diving stuff but it can be done with lead. (Just easier to use a more dense wood)

The big drawback to red cedar is that it is SOFT. One cast into a rock and the thing looks like it's been in a car wreck. Allows for water penetration.

I use it from time to time, but I don't really care for it.

I agree with the soft point. They do dent too easily just like using soft white pine.
