Someone Slap Me

I saw a price I could not pass up and placed an order for some swimmer blanks. 3663 pieces of soft maple to be exact...
It's gonna get awful crowded here next week

Two full pallets!!!!

They're cut-offs from longer dowels and all 1 7/8" x 10" and 1 3/8" x 8 7/8" long and that's why the price was so good.

Now I need to make a bunch of new jigs as these are round and I was previously working with square stock.
Wait until my wife sees the bill

Just kidding of course. She told me just this morning I should get my arse in gear and commit to doing "SOMETHING!!!!!".

Wish me luck......

Yes JigmakingmasterLu.... Lesson learned.

BUT,
Doncha think you could have offered up that little tid-bit before

In all honesty, I liked the square stock for registration purposes and thought I would stick to it that way but these dowels are so much cheaper to get. It makes the lathe operation that much easier not having to knock off the corners too...

I'm assuming I'll be using a lot of "V" blocks? Is there a better way to register dowels ?

Jay, you know that center finder you gave me...flip it over and put it on a piece of round stock...run a mark and rotate about 90 and mark again...looks like center, or damn near it, to me! Hey what do I know??:confused1:

No problem with finding center Doc, I need a jig to cut and cup the face of my plugs. You know, that "Odd" scoop. It's got to go through three machines and not rotate or the blank is junk.

This one...

I'm all set with the center finding and drilling. It's the registration of the eyes, belly weight/hook and the face. What I was doing before was GREAT. I just need to re-think it for a dowel.

The elongated cup is a booger to set up.
