If I can't ride to the spot on the sand where they're hitting the water has to be good enough for me to drop in MY Surprise (20' CC Sea Hunt) and run to the fish. There's a story behind that boat that got lots of play over the past 6 years. I still fish the short walks, points, small bays and breachways that I can park close to. Trecking miles down the beach like I did when I was MUCH younger are a thing of the past. Oh, I'll still SLOWLY make my way down a stretch of sand and/or rock making casts, but don't be in a hurry to gat back for dinner if you're with me! LOL Right now I'm pretty much TITANIUM from the waist down...back hips and knees. You don't want to be behind me in an air terminal!
Just how much younger you ask??? Well lets put it this way...it was the mid 50's when I caught my biggest bass ever off Nauset Beach! We were fishing out of a '46 Woody, 2 WD buggy. Didn't have scales or tapes and my dad forgot the camera at home. However the fish was hangin' off both ends of the tail gate by a few inches! More damn fun than anything. I think we pushed as much as rode!
Those stories are incredible and I really enjoy reading them. I think it's great that you share with us. Have you ever considered writing a memiors type book with your fishing experiences?

Armand

I'll bring some when I bring you that piece of birch ply.
Plywood???? Oh yeah! Forgot all about that (it's been so long)

BTW Doc, Armand belongs to that laminectomy club too.... That makes three of us, and I'll bet there are likely more. I see a pattern forming here.....

Armand,
Funny you mentioned that. I started writing what I titled "It Had To Start Somewhere" a few years ago. I have a long way to go, but bringing back some of the old memories are nothing short of fantastic! I plan to take it from my dad introducing me to the fishing and hunting sports, primarily fishing, to how I've brought my own kids along. I sent Shannon Ellis (surfstiva) a little blurp a while back and she thought it was great. I've scribbled a few more pages since then, but I really have to be in the mood to write. Organizing a flood of thoughts is a real chore. I don't know how anyone can write a novel....to be continued!

JayR,
You don't want me in your shop right now! Damn I can't shake this cold. Plug building has been put on hold again for now!

Lu, You know that there's always some in the box for ya! I still have the "Neked" waitin' for epoxy. As soon as I get back to not caughing every 2 minutes I'll "shine' it up!

Don't know if I posted this, but these are the "nekeds" to which I refer! Sometimes I just don't have the heart to paint some of the wood once turned and sanded. The 2 dark ones are Honduras rose wood, the other a hard birch. I don't know if I'm the only one that just found this out, but anyway...If you click on the picture it comes up on screen and can be enlarged...go figure...never said I was a 'puter geek! Hell it took me almost a year and lots of assistance from Kev to figure out how to post a pic. LOL

If'in it's what I think it is..... he better keep it under lock and key.

Hope you're feeling better Dick.
I don't need to get sick. I got hurt today.
I'm out of the shop for a few days. Wife and I are building a shed (were building).... 3" nail from the framing nailer split a 2x4 and found my hand 5" away. Went right into the bone near my wrist. I'm in agony..... Hurts all the way to my shoulder. I think I fractured the bone. Tendon is killing me too...
Thank God for Vicodin! Took one before the shock wore off and another a little while ago. I'll go to the hospital in the morning if it doesn't feel any better.

Busted a vein and it bled like crazy....
