Wink hello all

I’ve been fishing since I was around 8 years old. I started fishing at Legg Lake here in southern California. My father started taking me to the pier in Redondo Beach almost every weekend. When I was around 11 my friends and I would ride our bikes to either Legg Lake or to Seal Beach Pier to fish. Where we would fish almost all day long, then ride our bikes home (22 miles to the beach or 6 miles to the lake). At or around 18, my friends and I started going our own ways and with no one to fish with I just stopped going. About 2 years ago, on a camping trip my son in law got me back into lake fishing (catfish). After about 9 months I had ankle surgery while I was out a friend asked me if I would like to go to the jetty with him, he said he would carry ALL of the gear if I could just make my own way out. While I was out there on the jetty I noticed a guy fishing from the sand. When I got home, went on to the internet to look up this sand-fishing thing. Found out all I needed was the typical bass setup (7' pole, 8 lb. line, all on a C-rig. NO PROBLEM. Just had to get some grubbs. The next day I went out to Long Beach and tried fishing in from the sand/shore. I seen 2 people fishing about 20 yds from me. I walked over to them and introduced myself to them and indicated that it was my first time fishing in the surf and if she could give me any pointers. About 10 minutes later, I hooked up on my FIRST HALIBUT (14") from the surf. I have been hooked ever since. Since then I have mainly fished this section of the beach (with bad knees and bad ankles the large break water calms the waves). I have fished a couple of other beaches and almost get taken out by the waves (alittle bigger and all).
