| Thanks for the welcome! I am from San Jose, CA and most of my fishing is done in high alttitude lakes and rivers in the Sierra Nevadas. I also do some lake fishing around where I live for trout and black bass. A couple times a year, I head out to sea for rock cod and salmon, but as many of you may know, it's been really bad last few years and there isn't going to be a rock cod season this year ![]() Main reason I joined this board was to get some advice on Big Tuna fishin in SOCAL. I have comitted to doing a 5 day long range tuna trip out of San Diego on the EXCEL. Looking forward to this trip, but I need to buy some gear as all my tackle is for lake and stream fishin. I already bought a Seeker 20-30-40 with an Avet JX 4.6:1 as my all around rod, but I am thinking about building at least one more rig in case we get into some big stuff. Any input on this? I'd like to stay in the $500 range for an 80LB rod and reel set up that won't get used very often... | ||
