No B$ Server Move Complete : 10:00 PM - 11:35 PM

The DNS propagation is complete, and all seems to be working.

Let me know if anything seems odd or awry.

Thanks Andy & Jim. It's ALOT of work, but worth it. I spent 2+ weeks preparing, installing, and staging, with the hope that the actual migration/outage would be 3 hours or less. Once the trigger was pulled, I had it compete in 1.5 hours, with a functional redirect serving up the site, prior to DNS propagation being finished (or started for that matter).

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh yeah, we also now have more URLs....since I bought up 6 more for us:

NBSSPORTFISHING.COM
NBSSPORTFISHING.NET
NBS-SPORTFISHING.COM
NBS-SPORTFISHING.NET
NBSSPORTFISH.COM
NBSSPORTFISH.NET
NBS-SPORT.COM
NBS-SPORT.NET

They're not all forwarding yet, but the top 4 are!!

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Server Move Coming Tonight (05/03)...@ 10:00 PM, NB$ will shutdown for a period, while I perform the DB backups and builds on the new server.

I am going to attempt a redirect, that should work until the DNS setting propagate, so hopefully, the outage will be short.

The site should look the same, and act the same, however, there is always a level of risk in doing these things, and I am prepared to handle what I need to. We will have much better performance capability, and backup/restore, if needed. All good stuff, with more to come, but the bottom line, after the initial move, it may have a bump, but all data and pix should be there (I may miss a couple, but I'll get it whole).

Oh yeah, while the redirect is in play, the URL you will see in the browser after the redirect will be an IP address and trailing directories. I will clean this up as soon as the DNS propagation is complete.

You will likely need to log off and back on a couple of times as we progress through the next 24 hours...

Wish me luck.

Well, I moved NB$, and I have 99.5% of the data. I have some attachments I still need to bring over, so be patient, they should be up tonight sometime.

1.5 hours...not too shabby for the move, now for DNS propagation...the wait for finalization goes on.

Didn't work out so well for me. I had to re-register to get on the board.

The new system is not accepting my old log on as BČ Tackle. The squared sign gets changed to a "?" . It won't let me reset my password either.

And the join button on the home page is a dead link.

I had to use the register button at the top of the forum main page.

Arggghhhh!!!!!!!
