MSSA Tournament

Fished the MSSA tournament on the Chesapeak bay this past Fri-Sun. The first two days the weather was great and the stripers were bighting. We released over 20 fish the first day and kept 2 for weigh in. The over fish was 29 lbs and the under fish was 15 lbs. When I say over and under we can keep 1 fish per person a day from 28" to 35" or over 41". We had at least 10 fish between 38" and 41". The second day we had a good bight again landing about 20 fish and lost 8 with many missed strikes. The fish just were not feeding as agressively, many were caught on the trailor hooks the second day. Sunday called for GAIL FORCE WINDS with gusts to 57 miles an hour. We had to fish the lee side most of the day and only landed 3 fish for the day. It was an awsome 3 days with lots of action.

Thanks for the report. It always seems with a slot(we had one a few years back)that most of our fished landed fell into the release column.
At least you scored some good fish day1. Day 3 must have been an interesting boat ride with gusts to 57mph.

We did not do well in the big tour., 48lb was first and a couple 0f 45lbers. were second and third. We did find out we placed 3rd. in the catch and release catagory with 44 releases. Not bad out of about 650 boats. We also finished 5th in our local chapter of MSSA which is decided by the total weight of 3 fish. We had the numbers just not the big bites. We had a great time, the tourney is an excuse for us to fish 3 days in a row. My thumb is finally healing from releasing all of those stripers.
