Frances Fleet 9/30-10/1 My dad and I went up and fished the Frances Fleet Sunday and Monday. Sunday we decided to fish in the stern. The boat was a little crowded. My dad did not get any keeper cod but may have screwed up big time. He was fishing mono when he thought he was stuck on bottom and he got a little impatient and set the rod in the holder and grabbed the line to break it and he said it kept coming up and thought there is no way this line has this much stretch and picked up the rod and was able to gain some line then got a few more cranks with a very heavy mass on the end when it became really light. When he got his rig to the surface the was stripped of all his bait. Sounds like he had a big cod on there. I noticed a lot of very nice fish Sunday. Most of the fish were in the 20pound range with 3 in the 30's and the biggest going 37pounds. There were very few fish 15pounds or less. We also didn't get bothered by the dogs until the end of the day.I really think the day would have gone a lot smoother if people actually cooperated and listened to each other instead of casting over other people's lines creating massive tangles, but for the amount of people things went pretty smooth Monday what a difference a day makes, thirty less people. My dad and I fished the pulpit instead of the stern. I also had the pleasure of meeting willie864. It was great fishing next to you and I look forward to fishing with you again in the near future. We started drifting only to find the dogs were around. So Rich decided to move and anchor up away from the dogs. We did get away from the dogs and Roger got 2keeper cod this spot and one short and lost one nice one near the surface. I also hooked up and got a keeper snowshoe founder. We moved to another spot after the dogs found us again and Willie hooked up to a nice cod. Just about when he got color on his fish I hooked up into a good cod also. After a couple minutes I had the cod in the boat that went 20pounds. Willie dropped back down and instantly hooked up to another cod This fish was a bit smaller than the one he just got but still a nice fish. The right before we were about to move my dad hooked up and brought in a nice cod around 15pounds. When we anchored up to the new spot I got another snowshoe flounder that was 16inches. Then Willie and Roger both got another cod. Then Rich decided to make a move further east. Rich said we were going to drift this spot. Willie hooked up to a nice cod and so did another person in the bow. Then I hooked up to a nice fish. This fish felt better than the one I already got. A couple minutes later I had a 23pound cod in the boat. Roger got another cod as well. Rich made one final drift for the day but the dogs found us and we called it a day. My dad and I had a great time and hopefully the fishing continues through October. In the past 3 cod trips I have gotten my 5 largest cod a 16.5pound, 19pound,2 20pound and a 23pound cod. My 1st cod of the day My 23pound cod Our Days catch My 2 cod | ||

| Those are some nice fish for that area. Good show. I keep debating whether I want to do a FF venture. Probably just wait until Eric (74formula233) heads out...LOL | ||

| Outstanding!!!! Coxes? Beats the trips we had 15 years ago on the FF, and it was 19" back then. It's good to see the fishing on the S shore improving......

| Yep we were on Coxes. I was talking with Roger, Capt. Richy and Capt.Frank and they said this is the best cod fishing that they have seen since 2000 and the difference is back then the size was 19inches and the average fish was 6-8pounds with the pool being 20,30 and 40 pound fish but this fishing is averaging 15-20 pound fish with the pool being upper 20's and 30's. I can only hope it lasts through the winter. | ||
