Frances Fleet 11/11-11/13

My dad Eben, his daughter Jena and I fished the Frances Fleet Sunday through Tuesday. One word describes our fishing adventure... EXCELLENT. Sunday there was 72 people and I thought it would be a great day if I could get 2 keepers. We set out with a decent wind and seas close to 6 feet. As soon as we anchored up My dad within seconds is hooked up, then Cory is on. As soon as my dad got his keeper in the boat I was hooked up to a keeper. I got another keeper soon after. My dad as soon as he got to the bottom would hook up. He was on fire. He ended up limiting out at this spot while I only managed four there. Eben got five and was tangled up and reeled in what was the pool fish. This fish was 14 pounds. The only problem, it wasn't his fish he just reeled it in for the guy next to him. Man that sucks. Jena got one keeper here. Cory got 3 keeper and Nick got one keeper. We made another move which wasn't in our favor the bite was on the other side of the boat. I took a look on the other side and thought I might be able to squeeze in but that was out of the question. So I went back to where I was and nailed a keeper. So Capt Mike made another move and I got 2 more fish. I ended up with 7 keepers. My dad got 13 keepers Eben got 9 again Jena got 4 Nick got 6 and Cory got 7. We ended up just shy of 50 fish. It was much better than I ever would have expected.

Monday we had 60 people on the boat. We started off in a different area and got action right away a mix of keepers and shorts. I got 3 fish at this spot. My dad got 2 keepers, Eben got 2 keeper and Nick got 2 keepers. We moved to another area where I did something I never did togging before, I got a double header. Only one was a keeper though but I never did that before. I managed 2 more keepers from this spot. Eben got 2 more also.Jena got one keeper and Nick got one keeper. We moved to one last spot where I dropped 4 fish 1/2 way up that were keepers and only got the shorts up. Capt Mike just called for lines up to end the day when Nick hooked up then I hooked up. Both fish were keepers. I ended up with 7 keepers,Eben got 6 My dad got 5 and Jena got 1 total for day 2 was 23 keepers. My dad got his biggest of his life his 1st double digit tog that went exactly 10lbs. The pool was 10.5lbs.

Tuesday we awoke to windy rainy conditions. We set forth with 35 people. We tried a spot that held little life. I did manage a huge skate here, sometimes I forget I'm not fluking. Eben moved up to try the bow and got one keeper. So Mike moved to another spot where I got a couple shorts. So Mike moved again and It was the spot. I got 4 keepers here, My dad got 3 Eben got 16 keepers including his 2nd double digit of his life that was 10 and change. Jena got 4 keepers also. I think what contributed to Eben doing so well was due to my dad and I weeding out all the shorts so the larger ones could find his bait. At least someone we knew was catching. We totaled 27 fish. the pool was weighed at the dock at 13.35lbs. The crew said it was 14 when it was 1st caught. It was a great 3 days and we look forward to possibly going again Sunday

Frances Fleet 11/21

My dad and I went up and Fished the Frances Fleet today. There were 32 people on board. We set up on the 1st spot and started picking some fish but we weren't over it right. Capt. Mike wanted to reposition so hauling the anchor one got stuck in the wreck and we lost one. Not a good way to start the trip. We finally got repositioned with one anchor and I picked up 2 keepers and one short and My dad got 2 keepers also. On the way to the next spot the crew pulled out a spare anchor and chain that Capt Mike had put on the boat earlier in the week, a very smart move there way to be prepared and thinking ahead. Next spot produced a some fish. Cory was looking for rigs so I told him use my other pole its all rigged up. So he does and as soon as he hits bottom BAM! he was onto a nice fish and brings a 23.5inch 10lb blackfish to the gaff. So he drops down again and nails another nice blackfish. Here I pulled up another keeper, so did Kyle and My dad. So Capt Mike moved to another spot. I got a short and as I was going to rebait Cory had to take care of something and handed me his rod already down there. So as soon as He turned around once he was done I hooked up into a solid fish. For the 1st couple seconds I couldn't move the fish it just kept taking drag. Well I finally got it to move off the bottom and it ended up being my 2nd double digit blackfish ever. It was a 24inch 10lb male. We made another move after this and Starboard side got hot so I moved over there and got 3 more keepers. Cory got 2 more and Kyle got one more keeper and busted off one that he thinks was in the 7lb range due to using 20lb mono. Capt Mike made a few more moves and pulled in a few more fish and it was time to call it a day. My total was 7 fish to 10lbs. Cory had 6 fish to 10lbs. My dad had 3 fish and Kyle had 2 fish. Dave from the Helen H came out and got 3 or 4 keepers also. Pool fish was 11.5lbs. Hopefully I can get back up there Sunday

Frances Fleet 12/11

I went up to Rhode Island yesterday to do some togging for my 18th birthday. What drove me nuts was sitting there wondering if we will have enough people to sail. Well we did make it out with 10 people. It was one of the nicest days that I have seen all year. Our first spot right away a nice fish comes up and it looked to be very promising. So Capt. Don resets the boat this time with 2 anchors and a few more rods bend this time with shorts. It was tough picking all day get little flurry here and there. Capt. Don made many moves and resets and adjustments but the fish just didn't want to bite. I ended up with a pair of 20inch fish one male and the other female. My dad got only one. Cory got 2 as well. Capt. Paul did well with 4 keepers. Capt, Don in between making adjustments and sliding the boat around managed 2 also. High hook was 6 fish and the pool was 11.5. Capt Don worked his ass off but the fish just had other plans, maybe it was too nice a day. Hopefully it will be better next trip out.

Thumbs up A Great Day!

You couldn't have asked for better weather on Tuesday. We left the Gal ramp around 7:30 and it was about 28 degrees but there was no wind, the sea calm, and the sun was starting to warm things up. You guys on the Frances probably noticed a Parker 25 scouting you out after mid-day. We fished about 3 miles NE of you in 90-100 feet, keeping 22 fish to 10 lbs. Asians worked but the greens did better. We tossed the bait before nosing around you, otherwise we probably would have saddled up near that wreck you were on and fished until whenever. It was a good day and a wish for more for you guys taking the Frances.
