Gloucester ma, fish report 5/18 | | Well yesterday turned out better then we had hoped, left the dock at 6:50am, i was working so no play. Not a long ride, but was okay, seas were a little kicked up, but went down by mid day. We had 13 guys on the boat, made our first stop, didn't produce a thing, other then throw backs, then made a slight shift, and sat there for a little bit, then it started, we hit the haddock hole, nice haddock, all averaged from 5 to 7 pounds, the fish kept on coming over the rail, for 3 to 4 hours, lost track of time, we ended up boating around 120 to 130 haddock, considering only 13 people. As the day went on the weather got great, still sitting on the same spot. The guys wanted some cod, so we made a move after lunch, didn't produce anything but more haddock, final tally was around 150 fish, for 13 guys we did really well the capt even caught himself 12 fish!! The pool was 8.5 pounds. Wore my NBS shirt, its not white anymore, but worth it to me!!
Also on a great note for us in the cape ann area, the mackeral are out in full force, we got about 60 of them, and the stripers were kicking them up in the air full force too, had constant action with them all day!!
Whales were every were also, breaching, and very curious yesterday too, had one come under the boat, come up and give us a good spray, wish i had my damn camera, but was working!! |
