Helen H 1/26

Helen H 1/26

My dad, Eben, Nick Blount and myself went up to fish the Helen H again. We got to the fishing grounds a little after sun up and it was a little different than last time out. There were no other boats around just us and a couple scallop boats. First drop Eben my dad and Nick got keepers I got a short. I started out using the little Saltiga and a 12oz lav. I used this until I got stuck on the rudder after being in a tangle and lost the jig and about 90 feet of line. So I went up to a 16oz lav. I got a keeper as did Nick my dad and Eben. Joe made many moves trying to find a body of fish that wanted to eat but the fish just didn't want to play along. I did one tenth of what I got last trip, ending up with 3 keepers and lost another 3 inches from being into the boat. Nick got 8 keepers. He was using a 14oz knife jig that was purple on one side and glow on the other matched with a single hook blue tube and for a teaser a purple tube. My dad got 2 keepers and Eben got 7 cod and one Pollock. Capt Joe tried his hardest but the fish just didn't want to play. We didn't return back to the dock until ten to 8. Also heard some rumors of a wreck trip possibly this week, I'm looking forward to that one.
