The report

Hit the Bank for the first trip of the season Sunday 4/13. Weather was sunny and breezy in the morning and cloudy and calm in the afternoon.
Headed out from Plymouth at around 8:30 into a 1' to 2' NE chop. Headed for the middle of the bank were we we going to start our search. As we got on top of the bank we found tons of birds working bait south of the LL'S. Saw a few birds comming way with Herring and had quite a few dolfins swimming around so we desided to give the top of the bank a shot.. Went lines in and had non stop action of tiny (Hot Dogs as i like ot call them) 10" to 12 " cod. Fished that for about 15 mins and desided to get back to our original game plan to start in about 150' and work to the north and east into deeper water.

Headed off to our first set of # and when we got on them we found a few other boats in attendance. Well by the time we went lines in it was around 10:30 and we had no keepers in the boat. Well we set up for our drift and went lines in. And we never left that first set of #'S. From 10:30 till almost 3:00 we had non stop action on cod and only 3 Haddock drifting over that same spot. We ended the day with 30 keeper Cod, with 1- 20lb'r in the bunch and 3 times as many shorts for 4 guys sometime dubbleing and trippleing up. The drift started out at around 1.6 knots and it was taking 20oz + to hold bottom. About 11:00 the wind died off and 16 was more then enough. All fish were caught on bait and we were in 150' all day. We did notice that half of the throw backs were an inch or less short of keeper.

The ride back to Plymouth was smooth and flat, and we spotted several pods of Dolfins on the way in all the way to within about 3 miles of the gurnet.

All in all a very good first day on the water for the season. We had good weather, caught some nice fish, Boat ran perfectly, and the season is just getting started..

Good Season to everyone!!!

Sorry Jim We had a full crew Before we planned this one..
