I fished Stellwagen Bank on Sunday with two friends Paul(orion23) and another Paul from Monson. We arrived around 6:00 a.m. at the Annisquam River Launch and proceeded towards the “Chasm” area of Stellwagen Bank. We decided to start fishing in the middle of the bank prior to reaching our destination in 115 feet of water just to see if the cod had moved back up into shallower water; we only caught a few small cod on clams. We proceeded to deeper water 155 – 175 but the fishing was also slow. We headed further east for deeper water (250 range) and worked jigs and clams. Most of the morning was slow and all the fish came on bait. The early afternoon bite was much better! We fished in water from 228 – 253 working clams and managed some nice cod, haddock and only a few dogs. We finished the day around 2:00 p.m. with approx. 9 cod and 17 haddock. | ||

| AlloyToy- I was with Dave B. on this trip and in the early A.M. there was a stiff N/West breeze with a good 3-4 footers short spaced which made it hard to see any BFT action. It flattened out around noon and no BFT seen. Just a few humpbacks. It was nice to see cod in the numbers we got with the customary haddock. Water temps were about 61-62 degrees. If we had started out in deeper water we could have done better but we ended up with about 30 lbs of fillets; not a bad day. I see you are from R.I. and I hear cod at Coxes Ledge has picked up and is worth a trip. | ||

| Good job guys, actually from MA but fish both PT. Jude & Stellwagon. I honestly haven't been out to Coxes for cod this year, but Capt. Mike "Makomania" had a couple of good trips to Coxes. I'm gearing up for the Tog bite and I'll hit the bank later in Oct. Did you happen to dissect to see what the forage was? Lots of bait around the bank from what I hear.

| We didn't do any stomach surgery to see what they were feeding on but clam with attached bellies were king today. Dave and I were determined to stick with jigs and teasers but after a couple of hours and a few small cod on pink jellyworm teasers we switched to bait. On most places of the Bank the recorder showed some type of bait at 40-60 feet and not much showing on the bottom. The area where we had a nice drift of at least a half mile was east of the double "LL"'s where there was a couple of party boats out of Plymouth anchored up. The fishing is really picking up east of the Bank. BTW no pollock. | ||
