Walsh's 2/17

American Classic 2/17

This was my first time fishing on the American Classic. All I have to say is this was the 1st of many visits to pay Captain Jim Walsh a visit. He is a very good Captain and works hard to put the fares on the fish and keep them on the fish. The fishing was unbelievable. Double headers were a common place. I found great success using a 16oz lav and a dark green fly. My dad got a very nice cod that was 25pounds, Eben got one that was 21 and boy that was a nerve wracking thing. Gaff goes into the fish fish is at the rail gaff rips out fish drops back into the water and sinks from vision. Luckily Eben let his reel into free spool to not lose the fish and it was gaffed again and into the boat upon further notice he had it lassoed around the mouth and wasn't going to get away. Eben also got a double header 18pounds and another close to 10. I didn't get any larger fish my biggest was around 16lbs. I threw back many fish that were keeper size and was only keeping fish bigger than 28inches. The three of us kept 40 fish and could have gotten much more. Can't wait to get back up there again.

He caught that. No one was messing with him either. The mates started filleting and I guess Kil's powers allowed him to even get a dead one.

Great Report

Ckonkol,

I love reading your reports. They are articulate and full of great information. I am looking forward to getting out with the other members of NBS on the 14th of March and RELENTLESS will be going in the water same week and start fishing both shared and private trips the same week.

Save a few fish for me and I look forward to meeting you, your Dad and Eban some day.

Respectfully,

Captain Dave Waldrip

Chris,

great fishing with you guys again, and meeting your father. Both Eben and Dan are alot of fun to fish with.

My only question is why you guys haven't signed up for the NBS trip on the 14th of March? Get on it

Great day jigging aboard the AC, looking forward to getting back out there this weekend!
