For those who fuel up at Hess (Rt. 139 Marshfield)....beware if trailering an outboard. They entrance driveway has a huge lip/bump going uphill.........for sure one of those scars in the entrance is mine

Just a heads up..........

Mike Demeo is the Harbormaster and runs a great operation, the ramp is two wide with floats for folks to tie off to. If you don't need fuel on way in and coming in from south you can get off at Route 14 and it is about a 12 minute ride down to the ramps. Make sure you have everything though as nothing is open in the area except the coffee shack at 0500 down by GH Marina and maybe Green Harbor Bait and Tackle. Bob has a great selection of stuff for tuna and cod so check him out if going by.

If you need fuel take Marshfield Exit, 12 and between you and the harbor you will have Tedeschis Market (24 hrs) First Stop Coffee (0400), plenty of gas stations including Hess, Moblil, Shell all open early to top off if needed.

Easy transit out of the harbor, just watch ledges to the northeast like Bartlett Rock.

Good Luck and I will see you out there.

Capt Dave

Dave makes a good point about coming in off rt 14. As a matter of fact it's not just better from the south, it's better from the north too. I basically live on 139 and travel off of it and to the south to pick up 14. Cuts out a ton of lights and traffic (although at dawn the traffic isn't much of an issue). For me it adds about 4 miles to my tow but it's so much easier on the vehicle and saves the brakes. Plus it's a nicer ride.

Coming in from 139 I usually stop at Ocean Street Service Center (I think that's the name) for fuel in Marshfield It's the last stop on 139 before it turns along the water. Prices are usually competitive and the have lots of room to turn around and park. They don't open early though (maybe 0700)

I was out of GH yesterday in the same forecast shaking down my boat. Small craft advisory even. Other than the wind being a problem trying to dock, they were looooong rollers. It was sweet hitting almost 40 in a tshirt in March!!

So lets hope the wave period is long!!
