Thanks Craig.

I have the center console. I tend to cruise at 31-33 mph about 3100 rpm and getting about 1.8-1.9. That's what the lowrance stuff says anyway. Seems like the performance is about the same with the exception of WOT. I was at 39 opened up but changed the props this year which took a few off the top end but seemd to increase cruising mph. Strange but good I suppose.

I always thought twin 175s would be about right for what I'd want. I don't really know what's involved with adding a bracket, I'd imagine you'd have to strengthen the transom up pretty good.

I love the boat but have two young kids and it's not really ideal for that. We'll have to see what happens after some time.

If I could only find a trailerable rig that gets 2mpg and has the space of a 33 Egg.

"If I could only find a trailerable rig that gets 2mpg and has the space of a 33 Egg." It might just be possible, but you would probably top out around 10 knts...

1.8-1.9 is surprisingly good for 12 cylinders.

When I first got our boat, my wife looks around and asks - "why aren't there any seats?"

We've got two young ones as well (5 & 8). Up until this year, the youngest would nest down in the console for naps. I put a 128qt cooler up in the bow as a coffin box, which has been great for extra seating, storage and picnic table.

When i first started looking at buying a boat, I was convinced I wanted a walk-around cuddy for the kids. At some point, I switch 180 degrees, and went for a CC - still glad I did b/c we just mainly do day trips, all 4 of us would not fit into a cuddy I could afford, and we stay on land if we over-night. It's easier to clean-up, more room for the kids to move around at anchor, and less worry about them possibly falling off a raised deck in the bow. I would like to add a dodger at some point, and possibly some flip up bench seats in the bow, but I'm leaning more towards bean bags these days...

Twin 175's would certainly do the trick quite well. Adding a bracket does involve beefing up the transom some, and adding knee braces from the stringers to the transom - and plugging up the outdrive opening. Not a small project, but doable.

Go with the bean bags Craig! Comfortable as hell and easily removable LOL! A buddy of mine brings his when he comes with us and sacks out on the way out. They're sweet!
